Ready to start your sailing journey?

Great that you’re interested in taking a sailing course at the Sailing School Amstelveen!
Over the course of seven weekly lessons of 2,5 hours each, you'll head out onto the water in a small group (approx. 4 people) in a Valk.
The lessons will be tailored to your skill level. Whether you've never sailed before or already have some experience and want to improve, there’s always a group that suits you.
The courses are offered at three levels:
Level 1: Beginner – for those who have never sailed before.
Level 2: Intermediate – for those who want to master the basics.
Level 3: Advanced – for those who want to become an independent sailor.
Adult Courses
Level 1: Beginner
€300
After completing Level 1, you will have a solid introduction to sailing. With guidance, you can handle a Valk and sail on De Poel in moderate wind conditions. You will practice essential manoeuvres, learn basic sailing terminology, and master the most important knots.
This level focuses on building confidence, safety, and a strong foundation. The perfect starting point for your sailing journey.
Level 2: Intermediate
€350
After completing Level 2, you will sail with confidence and independence on De Poel. You can take a Valk on your own, prepare it for sailing, and hoist and lower the sails independently. You will enjoy sailing on De Poel in wind conditions up to Beaufort force 4 and comfortably dock the boat and return it to the sailing school at the end of the day.
A major step toward confident, independent sailing on De Poel.
Level 3: Advanced
€350
Level 3 is a major step toward full independence on the water. After completing this level, you are prepared to sail a Valk confidently and independently in a wide range of conditions and at locations throughout the Netherlands.
You will deepen your understanding of the rules and regulations on the water, advanced boat handling, and the physics behind sailing, giving you maximum control and insight in every situation. Fully preparing you to sail safely and independently wherever you go.
Diplomas
During our courses, you train to earn your diploma. Unlike a simple certificate of participation, these diplomas reflect your actual skill level and indicate whether you are ready to progress to the next level.
It’s important to note that not everyone earns their diploma on the first try, especially at higher levels this is completely normal and depends on your experience and personal learning curve.
We do not issue official NWD or CWO diplomas, but we have developed our own diploma system. Our diplomas are carefully designed to match our boats and local waters, while still covering the same core skills and standards.
